for factoring quadratics
There are many ways to teach factoring quadratics. After years of teaching algebra, I think the easiest method is "Lizzie's Method" (also known as the fraction method or Vieta's Theorem). Below are the steps and links to see this method.
STEPS FOR "LIZZIE'S METHOD" FOR FACTORING QUADRATICS
1. Factor out the GCF.
If this is not done, this method will not work
2. Find factors of A C that add to give B
3. Take each factor and divide by A
4. Simplify
5. (x + first factor) (x + second factor)
6. Move the denominator (if applicable) in front of the variable in step 5
